This new house is to be partially built on the footprint of a ruined house at the edge of a freshwater loch, surrounded by woodland.

The new house is to be clad with untreated, durable timber to the walls and topped with a zinc roof, all natural materials appropriate for the setting.

The low energy strategy for the house is to combine a super insulated, air tight fabric with a water source heat pump (ground loop weighted into the loch) for the heating and hot water system, coupled to a Heat Recovery Ventilation System.
