Glenkens Surgey is an extension and alteration of an existing surgery to provide new consulting rooms, reception/records area and waiting area with full disabled access.

The siting of the original surgery dictated that there was only one way to extend, and that was into the garden which required a significant cut into the slope of the ground. The extension is conceived as a single storey L shaped wing embracing a new public entrance and the large volume of the reception area around which all the main circulation takes place. The form is broken down into the different elements of the plan to make the scale of the extension more in keeping with the traditional domestic appearance of the original surgery. The use of natural materials, light and views of the garden were deliberately crafted to engender a sense of well-being and modernity while respecting the existing traditional style.
