An extension to an existing farmhouse comprising a wheelchair accessible ‘annexe’ and ‘link’ space. The project includes the installation of a log fired boiler serving both existing and new accommodation, using carbon neutral fuel grown on-site.

The 'annexe' is designed to provide independent living accommodation, with an open plan living / kitchen / dining area, opening onto a partially covered terrace, and 2 bedrooms. The fabric of the annexe has been designed to a high specification incorporating passive house principles. Materials make reference to the traditional palette of the existing farmhouse with slate roof, rendered walls and traditional sandstone features in contrast to a more contemporary approach to the 'link' which features a standing seam zinc roof, timber cladding and a glazed south facing elevation orientated towards MIlton Loch and the surrounding countryside. The link provides a shared dining space which is also used for courses run by the Barfil Management Centre.
