This group of 14 houses is on the outskirts of Garlieston.

The exterior is a contemporary interpretation of traditional rural dwellings with natural slate roofs, self coloured rendered walls and natural stone detailing.

The environmental controls for the houses include;

Super insulated building fabric with masonry inner leaves and concrete ground floors to provide thermal mass, high performance scandinavian windows, roofs insulated with recycled newspaper.

Ground source heat pumps to boreholes to provide underfloor heating and domestic hot water with solar thermal panels as back up.

Whole house ventilation system with heat recovery.

Rainwater harvesting systems providing grey water to flush toilets and external tap to water the gardens and car washing.
